What are the responsibilities and job description for the Infant and Toddler Teacher position at Discovery Clubhouse?
We are looking to employ a qualified Infant Teacher, who has a passion for instilling values in young children. The Infant Teacher should possess high energy and the ability to handle the demands of babies and toddlers with different personalities and needs.
To ensure success, the infant teacher should display a gentle and nurturing personality, and the patience to assist each infant or child to mature cognitively and reach age appropriate milestones. They should be able to assist in developing the infants' and children's social skills as they interact with each other. They should be able to verbally engage the children throughout the day in addition to incorporating curriculum and play activities.
Responsibilities for Infant and Toddler Teacher
- Provide a safe and loving environment for the infants in his/her care.
- Follow our Infant Meal Pattern as outlined by our Food Program.
- Thinking on their feet and responding to each child's needs efficiently.
- Soothe infants and provide a quality nurturing environment.
- Ensure play, sleep, and changing areas are kept clean and intentionally set up.
- Displaying a patient and calm personality coupled with a loving approach to every child.
- Contributing positively to the behavior and social interaction of the children.
- Building secure relationships with the children.
- Document daily events in SmartCare for parents.
- Ensuring close communication with parents throughout the day should the need arise.
Qualifications for Infant and Toddler Teacher
- Meet annual professional development requirements, per state regulations
- Ability to pass a background check
- High school diploma
- CDA (Child Development Associate - Recommended)
- Caring, patient, nurturing and passionate individual who enjoys teaching young children
- Able to lift up to 30 pounds
- Extended periods of time sitting on the floor
- Reliable transportation to the Child Care center
- Great customer service skills to communicate effectively with parents
- CPR and First Aid (attainable after hire)
- Food Handlers (attainable after hire)
Expectations for Infant and Toddler Teacher
- Teach basic sign language
- Follow all licensing and CCQS requirements
- Teaching basic skills such as color, shape, numbers, and letter recognition
- Planning and carrying out curriculum
- Helping children develop positive self-images and experience success
- Encouraging the exploration of interests and developmental social skills
- Developing schedules and routines ensuring physical activity, rest, and playtime
- Teaching children how to play fairly with others
- Positive redirection
- Observing, assessing, and documenting each assigned child's health, skills, behavior, growth, and development
- Optimizing children's developmental, intellectual, and social achievements in class activities
- Providing leadership and guidance to other staff and colleagues
