Summer Camp CounselorPosition Overview
Join our dynamic team here at Northstar Preschools as a Summer Camp Counselor working with children ages 5-12. In this role, you'll create memorable summer experiences through daily field trips, engaging activities, and meaningful connections, while ensuring a safe, nurturing environment that fosters growth and fun.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and engage with campers ages 5-12 in a variety of indoor and outdoor activities
- Lead and participate in daily field trips to local attractions and educational sites
- Implement social-emotional learning activities that develop interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence
- Guide creative art projects that encourage self-expression and imagination
- Oversee safe water play during splash pad activities
- Facilitate multicultural cooking experiences, introducing children to cuisines from around the world
- Supervise movie experiences and lead discussions that connect to learning objectives
- Maintain appropriate supervision and safety protocols at all times
- Build positive relationships with campers and communicate effectively with parents
- Create an inclusive environment that celebrates diversity and individual differences
- Assist with daily setup, cleanup, and organization of camp spaces
- Document and communicate any behavioral or safety concerns to leadership
- Provide age-appropriate guidance and positive reinforcement
Qualifications
- Experience working with children ages 5-12
- High energy, enthusiasm, and a
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to lead group activities with confidence and creativity
- First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Background check clearance
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in education, recreation, or related field preferred
Physical Requirements
- Ability to be active throughout the day in various high and low weather conditions
- Capability to to complete all mandatory hikes
- Capable of supervising water activities
- Can lift up to 80 pounds when necessary
Hours and Duration
- Seasonal position: May 5th/19th through August 10th
- Monday-Friday, Varying Shifts
