What are the responsibilities and job description for the Marketing Director position at Discovery Gateway Children's Museum?
Summary: Under the direct supervision of Discovery Gateway’s CEO & Executive Director, the museum’s marketing manager will provide strategic leadership and management of the agency's digital media initiatives including establishing the end-to-end digital marketing capabilities and strategy that aligns with the needs and goals of the overall marketing strategy. The marketing manager’s central goal is to help grow Discovery Gateway’s earned revenue portfolio (admissions, membership acquisition, camps, facility rentals, etc.) while simultaneously increasing brand loyalty and awareness through a developing and executing a rigorous strategic marketing plan. In addition to a strong leadership background and public relations management experience, our ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with an extensive writing and communications/messaging background.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Oversees employees of the marketing department. Responsibilities include individual and team goal setting, expectation management, job training, professional development, and constructive feedback; and assigning and directing work. Support staff morale and professionalism.
Employment Classification: Full-Time hourly, benefit eligible, Non-Exempt Status. Typical schedule is Monday – Friday, weekends when needed.
General Responsibilities:
Provide strategic leadership and management of the Museum’s digital marketing initiatives including establishing the end-to-end digital marketing capabilities and strategy that aligns with the needs and goals of the overall marketing strategy. Including, but not limited to:
Digital Marketing Campaigns including:
- SEO Campaigns
- AdWords PPC SEM Campaigns
- Display Campaigns
- Retargeting Campaigns
Website Management:
- Senior Web Developer
- UX / UI Designer
- Front-end Web Developer
- Web Designer
- Visual UX Developer
Provide strategic leadership of the Museum’s Public Relations efforts, including but not limited to:
- Developing and implementing publicity strategies for the Museum’s exhibits, programs, and other activities.
- Developing and implementing organizational publicity strategies for Museum events
- Creating and managing a PR plan, including budgets, timelines, etc.
- Analyzing all media coverage of the organization and drafting appropriate responses
- Managing and maintaining an organization's reputation and image as a result of this public relations marketing strategy.
Lead the creation and implementation of the Museum’s brand voice and strategically leverage that voice to draft press releases, speeches, social media content, and all other forms of written communication for the organization.
Serve as the lead for planning, management and optimization of all marketing campaigns.
Work closely with our marketing partners and vendors to ensure that the marketing strategy aligns with the organization’s broader digital and general marketing strategy and efforts.
Establishing a dashboard for KPI management and reporting results to senior leadership.
Lead the analytics and reporting function in digital campaigns with a focus on optimisation.
Develop and lead the implementation of the longer-term data and analytics capability, in consultation with the relevant marketing and business leaders.
Establish best practices around the use of data and analytics to inform marketing and campaign effectiveness and lead our overall approach to use of digital marketing agencies.
Work with other team members to hit organizational goals and objectives.
Tracks marketing results to be certain that marketing objectives are achieved within designated budgets. Takes corrective action when necessary.
Attends monthly managers meetings.
Maintains professional appearance.
Other tasks as assigned.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $83,500.00 per year
