What are the responsibilities and job description for the Middle School Division Head position at Discovery Health Sciences Schools?
Baton Rouge Ochsner Discovery Health Sciences Academy (BROD) is a newly authorized Type 2 Charter that is part of the Discovery Schools Charter Management Organization. We are excited to bring Discovery education to the Baton Rouge area through our second corporate partnership with Ochsner Health. The school opened for the 2023-24 school year, starting with grades PreK4 - 4th and will eventually educate students in grades PreK - 8th at full capacity.
Middle School Division Head
Baton Rouge Discovery Health Sciences Academy seeks a Middle School Division Head to join our expanding school. The Division Head executes the network vision for teaching and learning across the school. The Division Head reports to the Principal and is a key member of the campus administrative team. This position works collaboratively with grade level teams and content-area departments to facilitate instructional excellence and increase student achievement. The Division Head supervises and observes teachers to assess skills and provide feedback, plans and delivers effective professional development and builds ownership and support for meeting academic goals. An ideal candidate will have instructional leadership experience working with educators to understand and implement best practices to dracademic achievement.

Other required selection criteria include the following:
- 5 years of experience teaching;
- Strong understanding of State testing and Louisiana State Standards
- Deep instructional expertise and motivation to establish innovative and creative learning programs;
- Commitment to implement staff development and training;
- Ability to promote a positive school climate;
- Commitment to enabling each student to reach his/her personal best.
Preferred candidates will have:
- Related Master’s Degree in Curriculum & Instruction, Ed Leadership, Literacy or Secondary Education
- Prior experience in a high-performing school that serves an at-risk population.
- Experience as an administrator or teacher leader
- Experience with LEADS Evaluations
