Key Responsibilities
- The Porter will provide all the necessary supplies for all club events and in-home member events. This job requires, at times, heavy lifting. The porter will also assist with set and take down of all club events and in-home member events.
- Provides courteous and professional service as well as proper care, movement, storage of all equipment such as tables, chairs, and other event equipment.
- Quickly and efficiently retrieves all materials needed for setup for special events.
- Ensures all venues are well-maintained and cleaned prior to and/or after an event. Also assists with inventory control of catering equipment and furniture.
- Communicates with supervisor verbally and through written communication throughout the shift to ensure proper notification and follow through of assigned tasks.
- Provides prompt, courteous service to banquet members while maintaining a friendly and pleasant atmosphere.
- Maintains safe and sanitary conditions in all banquet service areas and for all banquet service equipment.
- Safely drive and maintain vehicles available for transporting event materials.
- Demonstrates full knowledge of banquet areas and keep banquet service areas properly stocked and cleaned.
- Assists other banquet staff when needed and performs side work and other cleaning and organizing.
Qualifications
- Prior experience and proven success in the hospitality or service industry is strongly preferred.
- Prior special events set up / tear down experience preferred.
Additional Requirements
- Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to deliver service to members, guests, and team members.
- Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Long hours may be required due to business demands.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.
