Job Title: Controller
Location: Greater NYC area (can commute to Manhattan 2-3 days/week) or Dallas
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Job Summary: We are a leading behavioral healthcare provider specializing in
substance abuse treatment and recovery services, seeking a hands-on and
experienced Controller. The ideal candidate will have 5-10 years of experience in
accounting leadership, accounts payable, and cash management, with a proven ability
to lead teams and interact positively with internal and external parties. This position will
oversee accounting, financial reporting, cash management, accounts payable, and
internal controls, for multiple facilities. As part of a company backed by private equity,

Key Responsibilities:1. Financial Management and Reporting:
o Oversee the timely preparation of accurate monthly financial statements,
for internal and external stakeholders.
o Develop and implement written accounting policies and procedures
(P&Ps) including revenue recognition, capitalization, and expense
accruals. Ensure GAAP compliance.
o Lead annual audit, working with national accounting firm. Ensure timely
completion of audit, and accounting firm’s preparation of tax returns for
stakeholders. Implement monthly checks and controls, and documented
P&Ps, that ensure annual audits with no audit deficiencies.
2. Cash Management and Forecasting:
o Monitor daily cash positions and ensure appropriate cash reserves are
maintained for working capital.
o Prepare weekly 13-week cash forecast, and daily cash balance and
deposit reports.
o Manage bank accounts and corporate credit card program.
3. Accounts Payable (AP) and Expense Reimbursement:
o Manage the AP and expense reimbursement processes, ensuring timely,
appropriate, and accurate payment of vendor invoices. Ensure
appropriate internal review and approval is obtained for all disbursements.
o Maintain and where needed create, written P&Ps for AP and expense
reimbursement.
4. Customer Service Orientation:
o Cordial, responsive, professional, and collaborative, with internal and
external parties including staff needing expense reimbursement support,
vendors, auditors, tax preparers, and others.
o Patiently teaches internal and external parties about relevant P&Ps for
expense reimbursement and AP.
5. Team Leadership and Development:
o Manage and mentor a team of up to 5 individuals in the Accounting and
AP department. Work effectively with remote and on-site staff.
o Provide ongoing training, performance evaluations, and career
development to ensure team effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity.
Grow the team in line with company growth and profitability, making full
use of technology to maximize team productivity.
6. Systems and Technology Management:
o Utilize and manage financial systems including Sage Intacct, Bill.com,
SAP Concur, and others to streamline financial operations.
o Work in a collaborative Google-based environment (email, calendar, drive,
chat, sheets) to enhance team communication and efficiency.

Qualifications:
- Education: BA in Accounting required. CPA required, doesn’t need to be active.
- Experience: 5-10 years of experience in accounting and financial management,
- Leadership: Proven experience managing teams of up to 5 people.
- Industry Experience: Previous experience working for behavioral health
- Systems: Experience with Sage Intacct, Bill.com, SAP Concur, and Google Suite
systems and is constantly sharpening systems skills and seeking out best
practices.
