Job Overview:
We are seeking a creative, passionate, and dedicated Elementary Art Teacher to join our educational team and inspire students in kindergarten through fifth grade. The ideal candidate will foster a love for the arts, encourage creativity, and develop the artistic skills of young learners. As an Elementary Art Teacher, you will guide students in exploring various art forms, techniques, and media while cultivating a positive and inclusive environment for artistic expression.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement engaging and age-appropriate art lessons aligned with district and state standards.
- Introduce students to a variety of artistic techniques, including drawing, painting, sculpture, and mixed media.
- Foster a classroom environment that encourages creative expression, collaboration, and self-confidence.
- Teach students about the history of art, diverse art styles, and famous artists from various cultures and time periods.
- Assess student progress through informal evaluations, projects, and class participation.
- Provide constructive feedback to help students develop their artistic skills and critical thinking.
- Organize and display student artwork in the classroom and at school-wide events or art exhibitions.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate art into cross-curricular projects and learning experiences.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and inspiring art room environment that fosters creativity and exploration.
- Manage classroom behavior and encourage respect for individual differences and creativity.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about students' progress, artwork, and any special events or projects.
- Participate in school-wide activities, meetings, and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or a related field.
- Valid state certification to teach art at the elementary level.
- A minimum of 2-3 years of experience teaching art to elementary school students.
- Strong understanding of various art mediums and techniques.
- Passion for teaching young students and fostering creativity.
- Excellent classroom management skills with the ability to create a positive and inclusive environment.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Ability to design and implement engaging, hands-on art projects that appeal to a variety of learning styles.
- Familiarity with integrating technology and digital tools into the art classroom (preferred).
- A portfolio of your own artistic work (optional, but encouraged).
