CATERING PREP COOKS / LINE COOKS
Dish Food & Events, a Long Island City based off-premise catering company is seeking an experienced cook to join our team of culinary professionals.
Compensation & Classification:
This is a part-time non-exempt position, which means that you will be eligible for overtime pay for hours worked in excess of 40 in a given work week at 1.5 times your regular rate of pay.
Job Purpose & Responsibilities
- Work alongside with the Executive Chef AJ Harris, Chef De Cuisine Jhon Jordan, Sous Chef Rodrigo Salazar and Pastry Chef Bianca Delacruz, responsibilities would include but not be limited to:
Production & Purchasing
- Assist the Executive Chef, Chef de Cuisine, Sous Chef and Pastry Chef in preparing and cooking delicious menu items for daily catering and event orders
- Execute prep lists and recipes to the Dish standard
- Ensure work stations are fully set up and stocked
- Stock inventory and supplies
- Safely operate kitchen equipment
- Perform other kitchen duties as assigned
Cleaning & Sanitation
- Maintaining cleanliness and participating in deep cleaning of any BOH work areas, including and not limited to refrigeration, cooking equipment, and prep areas
- Ensure that food preparation, refrigerators and storage areas meet the Department of Health and Dish’s food safety and sanitation standards.
- Exemplify Dish’s Core Values.
- Embrace promote Dish’s Mission Statement, Core Values, Hospitality Standards Culture.
- Foster positive communication with the entire Dish team, front and back of house.
- Adhere to mission, policies and core values as described in the Dish Food & Events Employee Handbook.
- Actively participate in Dish’s Continuous Performance Management program including weekly 1:1s, quarterly check ins and annual performance reviews.
