What are the responsibilities and job description for the Media Sales and Advertising Privacy Counsel position at DISH?

To add to our team of talented people, we are currently seeking a Privacy Counsel or Associate Privacy Counsel with a passion for privacy and experience advising on various US privacy laws and regulations. This role will focus primarily on the DISH and Sling TV Media Sales business. Thus, any experience with privacy for AdTech would be highly relevant. As Privacy Counsel, you will: (1) advise our DISH and Sling TV businesses on compliance with state and federal privacy laws such as the Video Privacy Protection Act, the California Consumer Privacy Act, and other comprehensive state privacy laws, (2) review and advise on privacy implications of various media sales and advertising transactions and product developments, and (3) draft and maintain privacy policies and internal guidance on privacy issues. This is an excellent opportunity for a self-motivated, collaborative attorney to help build and expand the EchoStar privacy functions, and advise business leaders and other legal team members on privacy matters and laws.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Conduct data privacy impact assessments and ensure that appropriate privacy safeguards are implemented;
- Advise DISH Media Sales on privacy implications of advertising initiatives, including the use of Ad Tech;
- Review new products, services and features, and other uses of consumer data to ensure compliance with applicable privacy and data protection laws;
- Develop necessary privacy training for various business units;
- Review contracts and advise transactional attorneys, information security partners, and business leaders on data protection, data sharing, and Ad Tech terms;
- Draft periodic reports on privacy compliance; and
- Participate in conducting our compliance risk management assessment and assist in driving compliance related corrective actions and remediation plans for privacy issues.
Qualifications:
- J.D. degree with strong academic credentials from an accredited law school;
- 3 years of experience at a major law firm or corporation advising on compliance with privacy laws, regulations and policies;
- Experience drafting and negotiating complex advertising contracts and data processing agreements;
- CIPP preferred;
- Strong communication skills and ability to present complex legal concepts to business leaders and audiences;
- Admission to the Colorado Bar, or the ability to become admitted promptly under Rule 222 of the Colorado Rules of Civil Procedure (Single-Client Counsel).
