Insurance Defense Attorney
Location: Pittsburgh, PA (Hybrid, with travel to office required)
Salary: $100,000 - $185,000 (commensurate with experience)
Overview:
A reputable law firm based in Pittsburgh is seeking a skilled Insurance Defense Attorney with a strong background in litigation. This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established team and work on a diverse range of cases, including, general liability, construction, slip and falls, personal injury, motor vehicle, and premises liability claims.
The ideal candidate will have significant experience in handling complex insurance defense matters, as well as a track record of successful litigation. This role requires an active PA Bar membership (NJ Bar is a plus), and offers a hybrid work environment, with some travel to the office in Pittsburgh required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent clients in all aspects of insurance defense litigation, including case investigation, discovery, and trial preparation.
- Manage a diverse caseload with a focus on automotive, general liability, construction, slip and falls, personal injury, motor vehicle accidents, and premises liability.
- Draft and file pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.
- Handle depositions, mediations, and settlement negotiations.
- Appear in court for hearings, motions, and trials.
- Provide legal guidance and strategic advice to clients, ensuring proactive communication throughout the case lifecycle.
- Collaborate with other attorneys, paralegals, and staff to deliver high-quality legal services.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Active PA Bar membership required; other Bar membership are a plus.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in insurance defense litigation, with a focus on the areas mentioned above.
- Trial experience and familiarity with managing complex litigation cases is preferred.
- Strong experience handling depositions, mediations, and court appearances.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and legal research skills.
- Strong ability to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Client-focused with a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
