What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cellar Tech 2 - Argyle Winery position at Distinguished Vineyards?
We have an exciting opportunity for a Cellar Tech II to join the Argyle Winery and Vineyards production team! Reporting to the Cellar Master, this role is responsible for ensuring safe and efficient cellar operations and utilization of winery equipment/facilities. The Cellar Technician II will perform all functions in our cellar such as racking, transfers, tank sanitation & barrel cleaning, grape processing, and all the other tasks that are performed in our cellar. This role is based in Newberg, OR and is a Full-time, non-exempt position, working Mon. - Thurs. (4 X 10 hour shifts) with schedule flexibility during peak production and harvest. Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have previous cellar work experience in a full-time capacity, or have worked 3 harvests
- Enology / Viticulture education is preferred but not mandatory
- Must have experience driving a forklift
- Have proficiency in understanding winemaking procedures, SOPS along with winery safety and sanitation practices
- Have proficient knowledge in operating equipment such as press/harvest equipment, pumps, hoses, and others
- Ability to train others and understand and execute work orders with logical reasoning and analytical ability
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation
- Must be able to provide U.S. Work Authorization without current or future sponsorship.
- Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Performs various work assignment with timeliness, safety and accuracy being the goals - Reads and preforms cellar tasks as directed in the work order. Able to comprehend detailed work order instructions, complete the job and fill out work orders to completion
- Operate various pumps, winemaking equipment
- Moves wine from tank/barrel – provides management of these vessels
- Follows safe cellar protocols while understanding winemaking goals
- Looks for problems with equipment used or any safety issues and reports to Leader
- Self-starter, comfortable working independently or with the team
- Clean and/or sterilize tanks, hoses, pumps, and other related winemaking equipment
- Accurately perform treatment to wines as directed
- Ability to be fully available during busy seasons: tirage and harvest
- Assist with training on all cellar operations. During harvest will help train and lead a seasonal harvest staff on all aspects of the cellar
- Occasionally help on the bottling line if needed
- Forklift proficient
