What are the responsibilities and job description for the Warehouse Shipping Supervisor position at Distribution Management?
Reporting to the Distribution Center Manager, the Supervisor will:
- Provide leadership for a 10-12 person team responsible for accurately processing and rapidly shipping 2,500-3,000 orders daily as well as processing inbound receipts and replenishing inventory levels.
- Responsible to train associates to the company Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s)
- Track associate performance to the SOPs and required performance standards. Council and retrain as needed when performance is not met.
- Collaborate with the Distribution Center Manager and Supervisors to develop and implement new processes and continually improve service quality for our customers.
- Motivate and engage team members ensuring high morale and providing support where needed.
- Overcoming challenges and evaluating operations to improve efficiency.
- Build and maintain strong cross-departmental, supplier and customer relationships.
- Preparing and analyzing distribution center reports to assess and enhance center performance.
- Ensure proper labels and tickets have been applied before shipping
- Maintain good security habits at dock doors
- Assist in loading and unloading trucks when necessary
- Operate forklift as needed
Documentation:
- Ensure the accuracy of all receiving/shipping documents
- Gather and maintain all data and records relative to activities.
- Enter data into systems
- Assist in resolving any discrepancies
- Collect all documentation for inbound freight and route to the proper record-keeping person
- Participate in cycle counts and help maintain inventory accuracy
- Comply with OSHA and other appropriate standards
Preferred Qualifications
- Two plus years of demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience in an automated distribution center environment.
- Comprehensive understanding of warehouse operations, technology and equipment.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- A college degree is preferred but not required.
- Physical demands
- Must be able to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to twist, squat reach above shoulder level, and crouch on a frequent basis.
- Must be able to use proper lifting techniques to safely lift up to 50 pounds
