District 19 Community Services Board Emporia- Greensville Clinic, has an opening for a full time Recovery Specialist for the Substance Use program. Essential job duties include providing holistic treatment to consumers. The Recovery Specialist offers peer support services to consumers with substance use disorders and co-occurring disorders in a manner that is healthy for the consumer to regain or maintain independence within the community and mastery over their own recovery process. The Recovery Specialist will serve as a role model to consumers by exhibiting competency in personal recovery through the use of coping skills; function as a consumer advocate and educate consumers about available behavioral health services. Recovery Specialist will provide such supports in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Other duties include disseminating recovery resources such as booklets, tapes, pamphlets, and other written materials within the agency and throughout the community and other general outreach duties. This position requires registration as a Peer Recovery Specialist (RPRS) by the Virginia Board of Counseling

Bachelor's degree and 5 years sustained recovery form addiction or High School Diploma or equivalent and 10 years sustained recovery form addiction.

The successful applicant must also be actively engaged or connected in the recovery community; have experience in writing recovery plans; have excellent verbal and written skills; be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, be able to work with a diverse population, be able to multi-task and perform work task in a harmonious and effective manner. Knowledge of mental health/co-occurring behaviors and experience in diagnosing substance use disorders and familiarity with the tri-city recovery community is preferred. Knowledge of electronic health records also preferred.

Salary:
Position is a Grade C5 with a starting salary of $43,261 - $48,667 annually.

District 19 Community Service Board is a qualifying employer for public service loan forgiveness (PSLF). PSLF is a federal program available to full-time government and nonprofit employees who have Federal Direct Loans and have made 120 payments on the Federal Direct Loans (after Oct. 1, 2007) may be eligible for the remaining loan balance to be forgiven. Position requires valid Driver’s License in state of residence with a point balance of -6 or higher, and an extensive pre-employment background check and drug screening.
