Description
Under the direct supervision of the Chief Investigator this person will assist in the trial preparation of criminal cases. The person in this position is responsible for all levels of investigative work and / or is assigned more complex or sophisticated cases, leading special investigative assignments and / or cases, locating individuals needed for trial, gathering evidence, investigating and enforcing court orders and preparing case files. May perform as a team leader or work independently on special assignments based upon needs of the office. Performs related work as required by the Assistant District Attorney, the District Attorney or his designee.

- Will assist Assistant District Attorneys in preparing cases for trial
- Investigates charges; examines evidence; determines facts of cases
- Attends Court as necessary to assist Assistant District Attorney with trial
- Will lead special investigations and may be assigned more complex or sophisticated cases by the Chief of the Criminal Division
- Assemble and organizes new case files, locate and contacts victims, witnesses and police officers
- Interviews and assists in preparing them for trial
- Obtains current addresses and phone numbers; locates defendants in the prison system
- May provide testimony during trials and orders and / or gathers evidence, photos, rap sheets, mug shots, medical reports, certified convictions, police reports, statements and other related information; reviews information obtained
- Obtains criminal records and history
- Secures evidence
- Performs legal research; produces monthly reports and enters various information and data into the computer system
- Conducts searches on the computer to obtain information
- Serves subpoenas and summons
- Executes warrants; delivers ex-parte motions
- Receives and handles police reports and other documents as requested by assigned attorney
- Receives and handles police reports and other documents as requested by assigned attorney and communicates with various agencies.
- Performs clerical tasks as needed, such as typing, copying, filing, faxing, scanning and answering the phone
- And any other duties that may be assigned.
