SUMMARY: Provide students and staff a safe and properly maintained environment in which to learn and develop.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintains, installs, plumbing systems, electrical systems, HVAC, landscape irrigation systems, restroom facilities and kitchen equipment.
- Performs preventative maintenance as directed and keeps accurate records.
- Diagnosis trouble and performs assembly, disassembly and adjustments on a variety of electrical systems, HVAC , plumbing equipment; repairing and replacing restroom fixtures, kitchen equipment, hot water tanks, motors and valves, and other related pieces of fixtures and equipment work.
- Diagnose and trouble shoot breakdowns. Disassemble, locate worn or broken parts and replace on all types of equipment.
- Read schematics and blueprints.
- Performs mechanical maintenance on equipment. Replace defective or worn out parts, including gears, shafts, bearings, belts, chains, etc.
- Cleans and drains clogged sewer lines.
- Performs maintenance work on all doors, windows, latches, defective closing and locking mechanisms; repair, replace and return in good working order.
- Ability to install and maintain a variety of locks and lock systems, to include electronic access control devices.
- Cut new or duplicate keys within the safety and security parameters of the District.
- Change lock combinations and manage and maintain the master key system, which includes a series of master, sub master and single keyways with the current District model.
- Performs replacement work such as changing ceiling tiles, floor tiles, base coverings, carpeting, paneling, etc.
- Maintains, repairs, and replaces desks, chairs, stools. Performs maintenance and repair work on a variety of building items such as masonry, carpentry, roof patching, etc.
- Establish and maintain good rapport with students, employees, community members and vendors.
- Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
- Other job related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Must provide documentation of the following requirements:
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Working knowledge and experience in carpentry, electric, and general building maintenance preferred
LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS:
- Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ IVP FPCC).
SKILL/KNOWLEDGE:
- Read and interpret general documents such as employee handbooks and safety/training manuals
- Write general correspondence and speak effectively with others
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
- Interpret assortment of instructions furnished in variable forms.
- Apply reason to research and solve moderately complex issues with little or no assistance.
ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in both the field and in an indoor office environment with moderate exposure to hazardous physical conditions (such as mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibration, etc.); moderate exposure to atmospheric conditions (such as fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, etc.); moderate exposure to hazardous materials (such as chemicals, blood and other body fluids); and moderate exposure to extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, movement restrictions and intense noise.
