Title: Elementary Summer Math Enrichment Educator
Type of Position: Part-Time (~40 hours total); anticipated July 14th through August 15th, with planning time to begin in late June/early July
STIPEND: $1500
LOCATION: District, Hopkinton, Massachusetts
AREA OF CONSIDERATION: All qualified HPS educators
NOTE: More than one vacancy may be filled from this announcement. There will be one position for grades K-2, and another for grade 3-5.
The Elementary Summer Math Enrichment Educator works under the direction of the Director of Elementary Mathematics and alongside others in the position (in any) to oversee all elements of the summer math enrichment program that will consist of highly-engaging math tasks that will reinforce, enrich, and challenge students while keeping math skills active during the summer months. A goal of the summer math work is to attract students who require extra math support during the school year and the Director of Elementary Mathematics will work with building administrators and classroom teachers to ensure these students are aware of the program. The program will run from mid July to mid August, for 5 weeks.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience teaching mathematics to elementary-age students;
- Knowledge of standards-based, high-interest math tasks;
- Experience developing engaging, high-impact learning experiences, particularly in mathematics;
- Knowledge of learning management systems (Seesaw and/or Schoology);
- Proven organizational skills, attention to detail and strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal;
- Ability to adapt and adjust to meet the various needs of our students;
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate.
DUTIES:
- Prior to the last day of school (or agreed-upon date):
- Communicate with families about the program through stand alone communication as well as tools for family communication used at each school;
- Promote the program through activities such as whole-school assemblies, school-wide PA announcements, messages shared in individual classrooms, etc;
- Assure student access and connectivity;
- Develop plans for students entering grade(s) for which appointed.
- July 14th through August 15th
- Create and organize grade-level tasks;
- Offer timely feedback to students (within 24 hours);
- Troubleshoot technical problems that arise.
- Following last day of program;
- Communicate with the Director of Elementary Mathematics to discuss the effectiveness of the program.
- Other duties, as required.
