- Provides direct administrative support and assistance to the Major / Director of the Business Support Bureau.
- Responds to requests from any vendor and liaise with the representative from DCHA Contracts and Procurement regarding information needed for solicitations.
- Conducts research and provides supportive materials to ensure that all purchases are current with industry standards.
- Benchmarks police agencies to ensure that all equipment meets safety standards. Briefs OPS leadership prior to acquiring equipment.
- Advises OPS leadership regarding the administrative procedures for securing services formats and presentation layout of information materials submitted for dissemination or other information purposes.
- Plans, organizes and develops new office systems and procedures, forms, reports, guides and any other administrative action required to improve the operational efficiency and cost effectiveness of office processes; and recommends automation of various administrative processes, as appropriate, to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Coordinates with the appropriate internal and / or external entities to ensure the requirements are within the guidelines of the DC Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Competencies
Working knowledge and experience in the following areas :
Education and / or Experience
Associate's degree or high school diploma and at least (5) five years' experience as a mid-level manager or other qualifying combination of education and / or experience may be substituted.
The District of Columbia Housing Authority (DCHA) conducts pre-employment screening on specified positions, which may include but is not limited to a criminal background check, drug and alcohol testing, verification of academic credentials, licenses, and certifications, and / or verification of work history.
This position has been designated by the department to require a drug and alcohol screening and background check. Finalist(s) for this position will be subject to drug and alcohol testing and will be required to consent to a pre-employment background check as a condition of employment.
Technical Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be capable of using personal computer and software such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.; and must be able to learn other computer software programs as required by assigned tasks
SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
The incumbent works under general supervision. The supervisor makes assignments and outlines overall objectives and discusses with the employee projects and deadlines. The employee plans and carries out assignments, interpreting policies, manuals and administrative directives, and resolving most conflicts that arrive.
Completed work is reviewed for soundness, and conformity with governing policies and requirements.

PERSONAL CONTACTS
Contacts are with staff throughout the office, DHCA, other governmental offices and agencies such the D.C. Police Department, the courts, attorneys, tenants, landlords, and the general public.

The purpose of the contacts is to provide, obtain and clarify information, and to resolve problems and concerns.
