What are the responsibilities and job description for the Building Systems Technology Engineer position at District of Columbia Housing Authority?

- Determines the work methods, availability, techniques, devices and materials that are best suited for each project;
- Serves as a liaison between ITD and outside organizations on security camera systems, access control systems, and environmental monitoring systems and other job-related issues, ensuring that the best interests of DCHA are represented and that mutually beneficial partnerships are formed and maintained;
- Serves as custodian of record for video footage, locating footage from DCHA camera surveillance as requested by legal subpoena and FOIA requests;
- Installs, configures, troubleshoots and maintains security camera systems, access control systems, and environmental monitoring systems.
- Determines hardware, software, or system specifications for security camera systems, access control systems, and environmental monitoring systems.
- Provides building technology IT training to technical and management staff;
- Assists with the creation of project scope, prioritization, scheduling, project communications, and implementation;
- Researches, evaluates and provides feedback on problematic trends and patterns in supported systems;
- Archives all footage, records, files, etc. obtained from security cameras, ensuring an updated and organized archive;
- Collaborates with the office of the General Counsel and supports requests pertaining to subpoenas, FOIA and footages
- Ability to work on-call schedules and provide after-hours support as needed;
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Competencies & Technical Skills
Education and / or Experience
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, and at least (5) five years' related experience; or other equivalent combination of education and experience which meet the minimum qualifications requirement may be substituted.
The District of Columbia Housing Authority (DCHA) conducts pre-employment screening on specified positions, which may include but is not limited to a criminal background check, drug and alcohol testing, verification of academic credentials, licenses, and certifications, and / or verification of work history.
