Job Title: Grounds Maintenance & Warehouse Director
Assignment: Facilities Department, Grounds Maintenance Services Team
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalency;
- A minimum of five (5) years of highly effective management and leadership experience;
- Ten (10) years hands-on experience in grounds maintenance;
- Ten (10) years experience in Sports Turf Management to include Synthetic Fields;
- Current New Mexico Driver's License with insurable driving record;
Preferred Qualifications
- Associates Degree or higher in Construction Management or related field;
- NM Journeyman Sprinkler;
- CPSI (Certified Playground Safety Inspector);
- NMDA (New Mexico Department of Agriculture) Pesticide spraying license;
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to interact with staff, students, parents, and visitors while remaining professional, polite, and courteous;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills;
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Software and other applicable software;
- Ability to analyze and evaluate complex issues and develop creative, responsive solutions;
- Five (5) years experience in the programming installation and operation of digital and analog irrigation systems;
- Knowledge of plumbing concepts including knowledge of water valves, piping, pumps, pressure relief valves and backflow preventers;
- Knowledge of modern warehousing systems and procedures including methods of proper and orderly storage, issuance and receipt of materials, inventory control procedures and space usage for maximum utilization;
- Knowledge of playground safety and installation requirements;
- Extensive knowledge of OSHA regulations and ability to develop, implement and enforce safety programs and protocols;
- Extensive knowledge reading and interpreting schematics, contract documents and specifications
- Knowledge of budgeting methods and principles and procurement;
- Knowledge of how to design and implement a grounds preventive maintenance program.
- Knowledge of building trades management principles, methods and techniques
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local codes and ordinances pertinent to construction and maintenance as well as knowledge of State Regulation and Licensing requirement for Grounds Maintenance Personnel
- Ability to read and organize operation manuals
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Supervises all grounds maintenance and warehouse staff;
- Reviews completed work orders to ensure proper completion and quality control;
- Establishes and directs annual grounds maintenance programs to include off-season testing/ overhaul of irrigation systems, playground equipment;
- Trains grounds and warehouse employees on safety procedures and policies;
- Purchases supplies as needed to perform work;
- Develops scopes of work for landscape and turf projects in order to gain price quotes from contractors;
- Coordinates and performs quality control of contractors hired to perform grounds maintenance repairs;
- Dispatches and schedules contractors for regular and emergency work upon approval by supervisor;
- Prepares job estimates and prioritizes materials, time, and labor, required to complete assignments in a safe, effective and efficient manner;
- Reviews and assigns work orders to appropriate grounds maintenance staff; receives and accurately records all work performed in the district electronic work order system.; properly accounts for costs including hours worked, materials used and contracted services used to complete work order;
- Uses and maintains tools, equipment and vehicles assigned and assures that all is maintained and used safely as outlined by manufacturer and or preventative maintenance procedures;
- Performs all work using proper personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with the Maintenance Safety Plan;
- Assists and advises Executive Director in planning & design of projects;
- Complies with state-approved New Mexico Administrative Code of Ethical Responsibility of the Education Profession and the RRPS Employee Standards of Conduct and upholds and enforces rules, administrative directives and regulations, school board policies, and local, state and federal regulations;
- Performs related duties consistent with job description and assignment as assigned;
Work Hours: Eight
(8) Hours Per day / 240 day contract.
Supervisor may assign additional work hours.
Employee performs On-Call and Call-Back duties as assigned.
Employee is required to perform Emergency Call-Back.

Equipment, Tools, and Materials
Examples of hand, power tools and equipment include but not limited to: pipe wrenches, screw drivers, nut drivers, multimeters, ratchet and socket sets and power drills. May also utilize backhoe, skid steer (wheel and track), trenchers, mowers, tractors, forklifts, jackhammers.
