JOB DESCRIPTION: The communications secretary is responsible for providing professional-level support to the community relations department. This includes internal and external communications, marketing and student enrollment, and crisis planning. This position reports to the Director of Community Relations. Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and one year of experience related to the area of assignment recommended; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the job's essential duties such as those listed above. Experience in a public school system setting and bilingual is preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS:

- Proficient in using technology programs for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, publishing, and photo editing including Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) Google (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, and Slides), and Adobe (Adobe Pro, Photoshop, Elements)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists with the creation of informational materials including flyers, brochures, and newsletters
- Assists with maintaining the district and school websites and ensuring ADA compliance
- Assists with updating district and school social media accounts including Facebook, Twitter, Nextdoor, YouTube
- Assists in maintaining the brand integrity of the district and schools across numerous platforms
- Collaborates with schools and departments to capture newsworthy updates for publicity
- Assists in the development and practice of the district’s crisis response plan
- Assists with other special projects including event planning and execution, graphic design, and photography
- Assists with managing the district’s marquees and mass notification and e-flyer distribution systems and supports schools and departments in providing communication to families
- Provides clerical support to the Director of Community Relations
SALARY: Full-Time twelve-month position, beginning salary Level 33, employee benefits in accordance with Board Policies.
EVALUATION: Performance to be evaluated in accordance with Board Policy on the evaluation of support personnel.
