District Academic Coach - Science
JOB DESCRIPTION: The Educational Services Department is posting for one (1) District Academic Coach (DAC) in the content area of Science. In this role, the District Academic Coach (Science) will support teachers from K-8th grade in implementing the Arizona Science Standards. This support includes, but is not limited to: providing professional development, providing on-site content support, and advising on academic standards and assessments.
QUALIFICATIONS: Possess effective interpersonal skills, take initiative, communication, and organizational skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide high-quality professional development, coaching, and collaborative planning time to enhance teacher understanding of the Arizona Science Standards and how to effectively use the Crosscutting Concepts and Science and Engineering Practices
- Work directly with teachers, offering individualized coaching, feedback, and support in implementing science instruction. Conduct classroom visits to provide support and feedback.
- Foster a culture of inquiry by guiding teachers in designing and implementing open-ended, student-driven investigations that encourage curiosity and critical thinking
- Help teachers integrate Engineering Design into their science instruction to connect scientific inquiry with real-world problem solving
- Work with district level administrators, coaches, and grade-level teams to ensure cohesive and consistent science instruction across K-8 classrooms.
- Collaborate on interdisciplinary projects that integrate science with other content areas such as math, literacy, and technology
- Conference with school and district leadership teams in conducting student assessments and monitoring student progress by understanding, analyzing, and interpreting assessment data, both formal and informal, to inform and support instructional decisions
- Collaborate with teachers and site academic coaches by providing on-site support through Student Centered Coaching cycles, including modeling direct, explicit, systematic instruction, team teaching, and/or observations
- Develop, implement, and maintain records related to coaching cycles, assessment data, professional development, and support services provided
- Continue to grow professionally through appropriate staff development opportunities.
- Perform other duties as assigned
SALARY: nine-month position, teachers salary schedule, and employee benefits in accordance with Board policies.
EVALUATION: Performance to be evaluated in accordance with Board policy on the evaluation of professional personnel.
Salary : $55,349 - $92,291
