What are the responsibilities and job description for the Positive Behavior/Mental Health Specialist position at District Office?
Major Functions
The Positive Behavior Specialist will assist schools in developing, coordinating, and implementing the three tiers of the Positive Behavior Supports and Interventions (PBIS), as well as provide behavior support and assessments, consultation, and student behavior programming. Positive Behavior/Mental Health Specialists will work 210 days each school year as assigned by the assistant superintendent.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct behavior consultations
- Collaborate with the MTSS school teams to develop behavior interventions for Tier 2 and
- Tier 3 students
- Attend MTSS meetings
- Provide direct instruction to students in Tier 3 as deemed appropriate by MTSS interventions
- Participate in and facilitate professional development regarding best practices in relation to quality Tier behavior instruction and PBIS
- Collect, analyze, and disaggregate behavior data
- Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments and make recommendations to the MTSS and Individualized Education Plan team on the development of Behavior Intervention Plan for individual students
- Develop Behavior Modi?cation Plans and Behavior Intervention Plans for individual students
- Provide PBIS to students placed in alternative settings
- Assist with the transition of students from alternative placements to the regular school setting
- Attend Individualized Education Plan meetings
- Consult with administrative sta? regarding behavior programming, discipline and data in the individual school buildings
- Assist in implementing progress monitoring for behavior
- Provide consultative services to parents and administration regarding individual student needs
- Conduct individualized training programs and provide materials for teachers and sta? Provide direct services to students as mandated by the Individualized Education Plan (Social Skills training)
- Conduct observations and data collections to provide strategies and interventions to teachers and sta?
- Serve on district committees and work groups as requested by Supervisor
- Adhere to the Mississippi Code of Ethics
- Maintain con?dentiality and privacy of all Senatobia Municipal School District records
Minimum Requirements/Training/Experience:
Master’s Degree is required in Education (preferably in Special Education), Educational Leadership, Psychology, or School Counseling with a minimum of three (3) years teaching experience and training in the area of behavior, as well as knowledge of the Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports
