We have been engaged to find a Controller to take full ownership of their accounting and finance function as they continue to grow. This is a high-impact, hands-on role where you’ll lead financial reporting, manage a team of two bookkeepers, oversee audits and taxes, and drive efficiency in closing the books faster and improving revenue recognition accuracy.

Responsibilities:
- Own the P&L, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Lead the monthly close process, and create improvements to reduce DPO.
- Work directly with the CFO and Board, preparing financial reports, cash flow analyses, and KPIs.
- Ensure accurate revenue recognition, moving them closer to precise monthly reporting.
- Oversee audits, partnering with the external audit team and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Handle tax filings, payroll compliance, and regulatory reporting (local, state, and federal).
- Reduce CFO involvement in taxes—next year, it’s all yours.
- Ensure the organization is fully prepared for its first audit cycle.
- Lead and mentor two in-house bookkeepers.
- Collaborate with the billing team to optimize revenue cycle performance.
- Be a trusted partner to the leadership team, proactively improving financial operations.
- Implement best practices in financial reporting and revenue estimation.
- Optimize Lightning Step and transition from QuickBooks Desktop to a more scalable system.
- Drive cost efficiency while ensuring financial accuracy.
- Support strategic growth initiatives, including onsite expansion and capital projects.
Qualifications:
- 5 years in accounting/finance, ideally as a Controller or Senior Accounting Leader. CPAs are preferred, but not required.
- Experience with healthcare finance, out-of-network billing, or insurance is a plus.
- Comfortable adopting and optimizing financial systems.
- Thrives in a small but mighty finance team, leading by example.
- Passionate about working in a company that’s changing lives.
- Loves accuracy, compliance, and financial reporting.
- Minimum 3-4 days/week at their ranch in Canyon Lake, TX.
