A family-owned plumbing company founded in 1962, serving long-time clients in Lambertville, NJ, and nearby areas. This long-standing business prides itself on its deep community ties and exceptional service. The company is seeking a Fractional Tax Accountant to help the organization with a number of compliance and clean-up issues.
The Fractional Tax Specialist will be supporting the team both in routine tax filings (Sales & Use Tax, State & Local Tax, Property Tax, Federal Tax, etc). The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Sales & Use Tax, State & Local Tax Matters (especially in the states of NJ and PA) with the ability to operate independently and troubleshoot complex financial issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and correct payroll processing issues, including those involving unique employee tax situations (e.g., ITIN employees).
- Ensure proper classification and accounting of payroll adjustments (e.g., W-2 to 1099 amendments).
- Assisting with a project related to compliance with the Small Business Health Care Tax Credit.
- Resolving issues of owners being taxed in the incorrect jurisdictions.
- Assist with annual tax filings and quarterly state tax filings.
Qualifications:
- Proven expertise in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
- Licensed CPA
- Strong background in accounting and financial process improvement.
- Experience reconciling historical discrepancies and implementing sustainable systems.
- Knowledge of payroll tax compliance, including handling unique employee situations (e.g., ITIN holders).
- Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Resides in the Greater Philadelphia or South Jersey area for occasional on-site visits.
- Must have access to their own technology.
Location: Primarily remote; must reside in the Greater Philadelphia area for occasional in-office visits in Lambertville, NJ.
