Prodigy Program Lesson Program Instructors needed. Anticipated needs; Flute, Oboe, Saxophone, Piano, Voice Teacher.
- Job Description: Teach private lessons in after-school music lesson program.
- Responsibilities:
O Teach weekly music lessons in private or semi-private formats (30 weeks/year)
O Prepare students to perform in a Spring student recital (additional compensation provided) and/or other student music festivals, and ensembles (case-by-case basis)
O Establish and maintain a schedule of lessons
O Maintain accurate records of lessons taken by each student
O Maintain professional communication with the Director of the Prodigy Program regarding student status and all issues related to their participation in the program
O Maintain communication with student families regarding lessons, student progress, and practice assignments
- Minimum Qualifications:
O Bachelor degree in music performance or music education
O Possess sufficient skills to perform and demonstrate performance techniques
O Have knowledge of pedagogical methods, techniques and processes to provide a sequential and consistent program of instruction for students
O Possess knowledge of appropriate literature, repertoire and teaching materials to support the teaching of instrumental music
O Ability to assess student progress and engage students through varied repertoire, technical exercises, and other creative activities
O Possess appropriate communication skills to relate to students and parents positively and effectively
- Starting Date: September 2024
- Salary: $52.53/hr
The Prodigy Program is an after-school music lesson program that provides private and semi-private lessons on all wind, string, percussion instruments, voice and piano to over 350 students by 25 musicians/teachers. Parents pay in advance for thirty lessons. Teachers submit time sheets for payment and get paid on a biweekly basis. Students are assigned to teachers by the Director of the Prodigy Program. Prodigy teachers establish their own teaching schedules. Lessons are typically taught on-site at Westwood High School and scheduled at mutually convenient times between the music teacher and parent. Lessons are typically scheduled weekdays between 2:30-8:00 PM.
