DESCRIPTION:
The person filling this SLP position will be responsible for working with students with a variety of communication disorders. The students may be involved elementary, middle school or high school, with or without other disabilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree or equivalent in Speech Pathology
- Experience as a Speech Language Pathologist in a public school setting preferred
- Possession of a current Washington State ESA
- Possession of a current Washington State Speech Pathologist License
- Experience and training related to job requirements
- Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA is desirable
- Demonstration of organization and management skills
- Ability to work with a variety of people in a wide range of settings
- Knowledge of and experience with using augmentative communication systems and devices
- Demonstration of excellent communication skills with staff and parents
- Evidence of ability to work and relate positively and effectively with staff, students, and parents
- Commitment to continued learning and professional growth
- Evidence of success in functioning cooperatively and productively as a team member with demonstrated skills in communication, problem solving and collaborative decision making
- Willingness to work with building and district staff as a team member
- Knowledge and experience in administering and interpreting a wide variety of diagnostic tools
- Ability to use IEP computerized systems to write assessment reports and IEPs
- Physical stamina and ability to assist physically disabled students if needed to support program instruction
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to be flexible in terms of service delivery and schedule
- Candidate should be certified to submit billing to Medicaid when needed
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Evaluate students with communication disorders including receptive- expressive language, articulation, voice, and fluency to determine eligibility and need for speech/language services at a variety of age levels
- Document communication skill deficits and their impact on the student’s educational performance
- Develop and implement an efficient service delivery schedule including individual, small group, and large group instruction
- Complete all required paperwork (evaluation reports, IEP’s, progress reports, etc.) on time and consistent with district requirements for compliance
- Schedule and conduct IEP meetings, and participate as an IEP team member in a timely professional manner
- Work cooperatively with building teams, district teams and outside agency teams to develop, plan and implement instruction

Salary Range: Depending on Experience; 2024-25 Salary Range is currently set at $60,000 - $116,667 annually (for a 1.0 FTE).
Note: Salary range will be increased for the 2025-26 school year, based on the legislative IPD (Implicit Price Deflator) percentage.
