What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cook (Float position) position at District Wide?
Float position (assigned as needed)
20 hours per week (hours vary between 6:00am - 2:00pm
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Preparation of food, food portions and serving food to students, staff and visitors.
- Operate cash register.
- Notify the Food Service Director of supplies to be ordered.
- Clean up and maintain the kitchen and garbage collection area.
- Clean and maintain all food service equipment. Notify the Food Service Director of fixtures or equipment in need of repair or replacement.
- Receive and store supplies and maintain all storage areas.
- Submit reports within required timeframes to the Food Service Director; including, but not limited to, daily production reports.
- Follow applicable State and Federal regulations for the USDA Child Nutrition Program.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Math skills with ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Cash register experience preferred.
- Interpersonal skills; friendly and helpful manner required.
- Ability to work in fast paced environment.
- Ability to meet physical requirements of the position
- Maine Dept. of Education Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) Authorization, or ability to obtain

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Activity Per Shift-
- Standing/Walking: 6-8 hours
- Sitting: 1-2 hours
- Lifting/Carrying: 3-5 hours, up to 40 pounds
- Pushing/Pulling/Sliding: 1-2 hours
- Reaching Overhead: 3-5 hours, above the shoulders and horizontally
- Bending/Twisting: 3-5 hours
- Kneeling/Crouching/Crawling: 3-5 hours
- Hands/Arms/Finger Dexterity/Hand Gripping: 6-8 hours, dexterity of hand and fingers to operate a variety of kitchen equipment.
