Essential Duties

 

 POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Technology Services is responsible for overseeing the entire technology (educational technology and administrative technology) infrastructure for all sites under Jessieville School District.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • To report directly to Superintendent on all educational technology issues as directed
  • To oversee district computer systems, network infrastructure, software and peripherals
  • To oversee implementation of district video security network and data security and archival
  • To supervise district network administrators/technicians
  • To oversee district Google Apps domain (email, device management)
  • To direct all technology related bidding and purchasing for Jessieville School District
  • To oversee all district servers, server maintenance/replacement
  • To review and research all hardware/software needs/compatibility for district
  • To maintain district internet filtering and compliance with CIPA (Children's Internet Protection Act)
  • To be responsible for all ERATE filing, bidding, audits and procurement for the School and Libraries Services Division of the federal government
  • To oversee hardware/software inventory - all sites
  • To be the Administrative contact person for the Department of Information Systems and ADE
  • To oversee all internet connectivity with DIS/ADE and Sudden link the internet provider
  • To rlQ_design the Appropriate Use Policy for all students, faculty, and staff in regards to policy guidelines and reprimands from infractions
  • To be the District education technology representative for Dawson Educational Cooperative
  • To research innovations in educational technology to ensure that Jessieville School District is maintaining a competitive edge in the global economy in regards to providing opportunities for all students, faculty and staff
  • To ensure that Jessieville School District is meeting state and national educational technology standards
  • To work with all district level administrators on educational technology issues and plans
  • To work one on one with teachers when needed for educational technology issues
  • To enable all stakeholders within Jessieville School District to have the maximum advantage possible in regards to education technology opportunities
  • To oversee district network administrators/technicians and helpdesk for technology related issues
  • To coordinate audiovisual needs for district event (concerts. professional development awards ceremonie , pre entations, etc.)

 

  • To perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by employee's supervisor, the principal, or the superintendent

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Competency Statements

Knowledge of Arkansas K-12 and JSD policies and procedures Evidence of strong commitment to quality education

Evidence of strong oral and written communication skills

 

Education

Minimum of Bachelors Degree with an accredited educational institution or any equivalent combination of job related experience and education (1 year experience for 1 year education). Must have training and knowledge of electronics, networking, and current technology trends. Other requirements per job description.

 

Experience

Three (3) years network/server administration experience, preferred. Other requirements per job description.

 

Computer Skills

Ability to apply basic computer programs (spreadsheet, Microsoft word, Excel, PowerPoint, others) to enhance job performance. (Others could include APSCN, HAC/TAC, Google domains, installation of new technologies and technological developments)

 

Other Requirements

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the school community. Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication.

Ability to perform duties with awareness of all federal, state, and district requirements.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional documents. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups and the general public.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to perform basic math operations to meet job expectations.

 

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve complex technical problems and deal with situations appropriately to meet job expectations.
