What are the responsibilities and job description for the Health Paraprofessional position at District Wide?
Health Paraprofessional
Part time
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior health care experience preferred
- Attention to detail and flexibility
- Ability to follow policies and procedures
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to complete education/training in the following (trainings can be provided):
- First Aid
- Medication Administration
- CPR
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES (Under District Nurse Supervision)
- Assists with first aid as needed
- Assists with distributing student medications, both daily and prn
- Communicates and documents student needs appropriately using HIPAA, FERPA, and district guidelines
- Assists nurses with special projects such as immunization audits, screenings, and education
- Assists nurse with care of students with individual health plans of conditions such as monitoring diabetes, seizures, asthma, allergies, personal hygiene
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to assist in student transfers which include lifting, bending, twisting, walking, etc.
- Provide own transportation in order to travel between buildings
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Will work with students of all ages from preschool-12th grade
- Possibility of exposure to common illnesses/communicable diseases
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Flexible Part-time hours
- Wages determined by school board
EVALUATION
- Performance and qualifications reviewed periodically
HOURS: 4 hrs/day typically from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm (ability to be flexible some days)
