Reports to:              Special Education Director and School Principal

 

Location:                 District Wide

FTE:                          Full Time and Part Time Positions Available

 

Salary:                     $44,263.00 - $59,502.00 DOE & $2,500 Stipend for National Certified Speech & Language Therapists

 

Start Date:              August 16, 2024

 

Contract Days:        188 plus up to five additional days of paid extension of contract at the daily rate of pay

 

 

Essential Job Duties

  • Assess students’ communication skills (articulation, fluency, voice, expressive & receptive language, etc.) to determine communication disorders, special education eligibility, and recommendations for treatment.
  • Create and provide input to Evaluation Team documentation and Individual Education Programs (IEP).
  • Develop and implement treatment plans, interventions and/or materials for caseload.
  • Provide direct therapy as designated by IEPs.
  • Complete and maintain appropriate files, records, documentation, state, and district reports.
  • Communicate and establish positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and community resources.
  • Recognize and respond to student's personal, educational, and/or social needs.
  • Become familiar with teacher expectations of students and facilitate desirable individual and group performance and behavior.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Special Education Director or Site Supervisor.

  • Ability to schedule activities, meetings, and/or events, gather, collate, and/or classify data and use job-related equipment.

  • Skill in preparing and maintaining accurate records and using pertinent software applications (as required).
  • Skill in standards based instruction and assessment.
  • Skill in the use of technology to enhance instruction and communication.
  • Skill in critical thinking, problem analysis, and resolution.
  • Skill, dedication and aptitude for working with students.

Required Qualifications

  1. Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology or Communications Science Disorders.
  2. MT Licensure in Speech Language Pathology.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Experience working with effectively with children in an education setting.
  2. Knowledge of current instructional materials and techniques.

Necessary special requirements:

 

  • Montana Driver’s license or the ability to obtain license within three months of hire date.

 

Physical and Mental Demands and Work Hazards

  • Ability to meet deadlines with severe time constraints.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
  • Regularly required to sit, regularly walk and stand.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling.
  • Significant fine finger dexterity.
  • Required to be able to hear conversations in loud and quiet environments.
  • May be required to lift or carry up to 40 pounds on a routine basis with or without an accommodation.
  • Guidance and reinforcement are usually limited.
  • The employee frequently works within time constraints and must maintain attentiveness intensity.
  • Frequently involved in interactions which require oral and written communications.
  • Exercises flexibility and the ability to shift from one task to another.
  • Occasional travel/mobility between schools, or between schools and the Administration office, may be required.
  • Effective hearing and speech abilities.
  • Work area is generally a hazard free environment.
