Substitute Accompanist

POSITION SUMMARY:  Assist and support music staff in the education of children

QUALIFICATIONS:                      

• High School Diploma or GED
• Proficient in playing piano accompaniments
• Proficient in sight-reading choral parts
• Ability to work flexible hours

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Professional Performance Criteria

• Accompany vocal music ensembles on the piano for both rehearsals and performances.
• Record accompaniments.
• Assists in the supervision of students in the classroom and other areas of the school facility. This may include:
• concerts / performances
• school related activities during contracted hours
• emergency drills/situations     
• Assists staff in preparation of materials. This may include:
• recording accompaniments
• reproducing and preparing materials and equipment used in the classroom
• Works with group or individual students in the daily routine of the classroom under the teacher’s direction. This may include:
• assisting teacher with classroom management and/or implementation of behavioral management plan(s)
• Keeps teacher/administrator informed of all relevant student-related matters.
• Maintains working knowledge and use of available technology.
• Provides assistance to any student as need arises or as requested.
• Assists in the integration of special education students in the regular classroom.
• Other duties and responsibilities as requested by supervisor.
