What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custodian position at District?
- Knowledge of operating machinery used in custodial work.
- Knowledge of cleaning products.
- Ability to perform routine tasks without close supervision.
- Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. and occasionally lift and or move up to
100 lbs.
- Cleaning corridors after school each day and when necessary during the day.
- Cleaning and disinfecting bathrooms and drinking fountains at least daily.
- Maintaining floors clean and attractive includes sweeping, mopping,
waxing, stripping, sealing, etc.
- Sweeping and vacuuming classrooms daily and dusting furniture daily.
- Assuming responsibility for the opening and closing of the building each school day and
for determining that all doors and windows are properly secured, lights are turned off, and
- Maintaining inventory of supplies, equipment, and fuel and requisitioning needed
replacements from the head custodian.
- Reporting major needed repairs to supervisor.
- Moving furniture or equipment if necessary.
- Washing windows both inside and outside as required.
- Performing related custodial duties as assigned.
- Running various errands upon request.
- Any other tasks as may be required by the administration and/or board.
