DESCRIPTION: The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) will work within our school district to provide comprehensive speech and language therapy services to students ranging from pre-kindergarten to high school. This individual will play a vital role in assessing, diagnosing, and treating communication disorders and difficulties, enabling students to communicate effectively and succeed academically. This position requires working with children of various ages and a variety of disabilities.

QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Valid Washington State ESA Certificate. 2. ASHA CCCs or equivalent 3. Experience with interventions of the communication needs of a variety of students and varying disabilities. 4. Experience working with children and families who are culturally, linguistically and racially diverse. 5. Ability to conduct diagnostic/functional assessments as a member of a team. 6. Gather and analyze data. 7. Communicate effectively and demonstrate positive relationship skills with staff, parents, students and agencies when necessary. 8. Knowledge of Due Process. 9. Knowledge of state and federal laws relating to children with disabilities. 10. Ability to complete activities that support compliance with Federal, State, and local mandates. 11. Demonstrate community awareness. 12. Practice ethical and professional standards of conduct including the requirements of confidentiality.
Desired Qualifications Bilingual in Spanish Masters Degree in Speech Language Pathology
Reports to: Director of Special Education
Supervises: No direct reports
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Evaluate communication problems including receptive-expressive language, articulation, voice, fluency, neuromuscular, and non-vocal. 2. Must document evaluation results and relate the impact of the communication disorder to the educational performance of students. 3. Identify needs, prepare treatment plans, make recommendations regarding interventions and the individualized programs (IEPs). 4. Provide speech/language therapy to communication-disordered students from regular and special education classrooms. 5. Provide informational and consultative services relative to the management of the communication disorder to the student, educational team, family, related medical agencies and community agencies. 6. Communicate in a professional manner, both orally and in writing. 7. Organize and manage caseloads. 9. Demonstrate positive relationship skills with students and parents. 10. Able to function effectively as an active, productive, and integral member of the educational team. 11. Other duties deemed necessary and appropriate as assigned by the supervisor.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Working area will be in a regular education classroom. Provide remedial instruction to students who demonstrate that need. Maintain inventory and equipment assigned to classroom. Provide programming within budgetary constraints. Teaching assignments will be determined on an annual basis by the building principal.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, lift, carry, move about, hear and speak. Employee may be required to perform extensive work at a computer display terminal.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, or consistent with the subject being taught, but can be abnormally loud on occasion.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally work in outside weather conditions and be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, temperature fluctuations, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals commonly used in instruction and/or cleaning. It may be expected that the individual could be exposed to blood or other potentially infectious materials during the course of their duties. The employee may be exposed to infectious disease as carried by students.
The employee may be required to travel in school owned or leased vehicles while supervising and assisting students.
