What are the responsibilities and job description for the Saw Operator position at Diversified Fall Protection - CLE/STL?
Summary / Objective
The saw operator will safely operate, maintain, and clean production saws in accordance with production demand.
Essential Job Functions
- Operates production saws in accordance with prints and specifications.
- Produce the required quantity of parts within established specifications and tolerances.
- Measures finished parts with precision tools, ensuring compliance with function, quality, and cosmetic specifications.
- Inspects equipment prior to use to ensure proper setup and alignment; performs basic and routine adjustments and maintenance.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned.
- Uses power tools, hand tools, and chemicals to finish cut parts.

Required Skills and Abilities
- Ability to follow direction and work well in a team.
- Ability to interpret and translate engineering designs and documentation.
- Thorough understanding of or the ability to quickly learn production equipment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of and the ability to abide by applicable OSHA and environment regulations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Certified tow motor operator.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particle, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment may be loud. Constant awareness to surrounding and safety is required.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to read, count, and write to accurately complete all documentation. Must be able to operate and use all necessary equipment. Must be able to properly wear a respirator and hearing protection. In addition, this position must be able to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the day. Must be able to stand and walk up to 8 hours per day.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Standard days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, evening shift. Weekend work may be required based on company needs.
Required Education, Experience & Clearances
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Excellent communication skills
- Valid Driver’s License & Evidence of Ability to Insure
- Criminal Justice Background Check (state and federal)
- Drug Test (5-panel)
- E-Verify
Preferred Education and Experience
- Experience reading blueprints, plans, and details
- OSHA/ANSI Fall Protection standards knowledge
