What are the responsibilities and job description for the Janitorial Operations Manager position at Diversified Maintenance?
The Janitorial Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing several hundred-service locations and multiple Area Managers with assigned territories. Responsibilities include but are not limited to managing operations, controlling expenses and payroll budgets, handling employee issues, maintaining vendor relationships, and managing risk and safety.
Janitorial Operations Managers are also ultimately responsible for ensuring the highest level of customer service throughout the worksite locations in their territory. The Janitorial Operations Manager is a role model and leader who must solve problems, make informed decisions, and manage the workforce wisely in order to achieve maximum results.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - This is not an all-inclusive list
- Ensure financial and quality performance for assigned area of responsibility
- Build relationships with customers in conjunction with account management
- Approve all travel submissions and vacation requests of Area Managers and other direct reports
- Ensure all compliance measures are met
- Hire, mentor, and evaluate all Area Managers and other direct reports
- Implement new work
- Review, request equipment needs
- Coordinate with People Operations Business Partner to ensure all employee issues are addressed
- Inspect worksite locations
- Implement safety and training activities
- Serve as backup to Area Manager when necessary
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Skilled in developing and training workforce, building relationships, and effectively utilizing team strengths
- Experienced in delivering all types of floor care, custodial, and housekeeping solutions
- Committed to providing outstanding customer service
- Maintains fair, consistent standards in workforce management
- Capable of adjusting priorities and managing time wisely in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient in maintaining accurate workforce records and documentation
- Communicates clearly and concisely; listens attentively and provides understandable instructions
- Strong interpersonal, communication, organization, and follow-through skills
- Keeps professional and technical knowledge current by reviewing publications, benchmarking best practices, and contributing to team goals
- Operates all necessary equipment, with strong computer skills including internet use, Google Suite, Outlook, Word, and Excel
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Willing and available to work full-time schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Previous experience in big box or multi-store retail management required
- Comfortable handling million-dollar volume operations
- College degree desirable
LICENSURE: Must possess a valid state driver’s license in order to fulfill the duties of this position, as significant travel between accounts is required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This job may require lifting of objects that exceed 50lbs., with frequent lifting and or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs. Other physical demands that are required are, reaching, climbing, stooping and or kneeling, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling, writing and seeing.
