What are the responsibilities and job description for the Warehouse Inventory Specialist position at Diversified Shipping Services?
Our company specializes in high-quality pick-and-pack services for Canadian and US customers. We are located in the Blaine area and are looking for an inventory specialist to manage over 1500 SKUs for our largest account. This is a physical, hand-on position that requires good planning and organizational skills as well as the drive and determination to get the job done efficiently and safely.
Responsibilities Include:
All receiving responsibilities for all incoming product for our key client. This includes receiving, verification of SKUs and quantities received, and storing/stocking those SKUs in the warehouse.
- Stocking all low stock items on the pick-floor before they become out-of-stock.
- Conducting physical inventories as needed.
- Answering all customer correspondence regarding inventory in a professional and timely manner (typically done through email).
- Organizing the warehouse pick-area to maximize picking efficiency and safety.
- Deploying and maintaining an organized “shelf location” based pick-system. We have started this process and it is about 30% complete.
- Keeping the pick-system and SKU storage locations up to date in the customer’s inventory system.
- Consolidating storage pallets to maximize space utilization.
- Build and prep outbound transfer orders to be sent from the Blaine warehouse to the customer’s warehouse in Canada.
- Keep the warehouse clean, safe, and organized.
- Helping out with pick/pack/ship responsibilities when needed.
Job Requirements:
- This is a physical, fast-paced environment. Applicants must be able to be on their feet all day and routinely and safely lift, manage, and carry boxes up to 50 pounds on their own, and move heavier boxes on occasion safely.
- At least 2 years forklift experience (preferably stand-up). If your forklift certification is not current, we can re-certify you.
- At least two years of warehouse/inventory management experience. Experience in a large SKU pick-and-pack operations is a plus (again, we manage over 1500 SKUs for this customer).
- Decent IT literacy. Applicant doesn’t need to be an IT expert, but do need to be able to set up a PC, troubleshoot basic computer, network, and printer issues, have good experience with Excel/Word/Google Sheets, and have experience using third-party inventory applications.
- Flexibility in work-hours – applicant must be willing to adjust their shift to come in early or stay late when needed to minimize impact to the picking floor.
- Must have demonstrated a high level of organizational skills and a sense of operational efficiency and urgency.
- Must be a good team player. Our company is a small team, and it is imperative we all help and support each other.
