Diversified Sourcing Solutions is looking to add a Manual Grinder Operator to our growing team in downtown Birmingham. This position starts at $17 per hour and is Monday - Thursday 7 : 00AM to 3 : 30PM and Friday 6 : 00AM to 2 : 30PM.
A Manual Grinder Operator is responsible for operating grinding machines to shape, sharpen, or smooth metal. They set up, operate, and maintain these machines while ensuring they are safe to use and in compliance with established safety standards. Grinder Operators inspect finished products to ensure they meet specifications and adjust machinery as needed. They must also maintain machine parts and lubricate and clean machines.
Duties / Responsibilities
- Communicate with coworkers, supervisors, and other team members
- Follow drawings, blueprints, or instructions
- Follow safety guidelines and protocols
- Identify / troubleshoot common issues or abnormalities
- Monitor the grinding process and inspect finished workpieces
- Operate various types of grinding machines
- Participate in training or professional development opportunities
- Perform grinding operations
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on grinding machines
- Maintain work logs, record production data, and complete necessary paperwork
- Select appropriate belts, grinding wheels, or other abrasive tools as required
- Set up workpieces on the grinding machine
- Stay updated with industry trends in grinding technologies
- Use precision measuring instruments
