JOB SUMMARY
The SAFETY/QUALITY COORDINATOR is responsible to ensure compliance with company, customer and governmental safety policies, procedures and regulations. Provide support to all construction activities by facilitating work site and equipment audits, conducting documented safety meetings, accident/incident investigations, and coordination of employee safety training programs.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
- Accountable to the Corporate Director – Safety and Environmental Compliance for the fulfillment of his function, responsibilities, authorities and relationships.
- Investigates employee injury accidents, prepares written reports including root cause analysis, communicates information to appropriate locations and provides follow-up to ensure successful conclusion to the incident.
- Investigates property damage accidents or incidents, prepares required detailed reports, and communicates information to appropriate locations.
- Follows up on fundamental causes of injury accidents, as determined on accident report investigations, to ensure corrective action has been taken to prevent reoccurrence.
- Conducts routine documented quality and safety audits of all work sites and equipment to ensure compliance with company quality and safety policies and customer and governmental regulations.
- Acts as liaison between the company and physicians performing services for the company in the form of employment physicals, drug and alcohol testing or emergency treatment for work related injuries.
- As required, assists with the development of Project Safety Plan including emergency preparedness, hazard analysis and other pertinent data.
- Pre-plans and conducts documented safety meetings. May include special tailgate safety meetings. These meetings include, but are not limited to: Hazard Communication, Personal Protective equipment, Safety Awareness, Accident/Incident review information, and informal required training.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2 - 5 years’ experience in natural gas distribution or related experience preferred
- 1 - 3 years’ safety experience preferred
- Must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record
- Basic understanding of construction principles and procedures
- Comfortable working in a high-stress environment with extreme weather fluctuations
- Must pass drug screen and MVR check and background check pursuant to local, state and federal rules.
- Position requires a minimum age of 21
WORK REQUIREMENTS
WORK SCHEDULE: This is a full-time position. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. However, the hours in a day may run longer to complete a project. Possible nights and/or weekend work activities.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, taste and smell.
The employee must frequently lift or move up to 50 lbs. Anything weighing more than 50 lbs. requires a two-person lift and should not be attempted alone. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts. and is frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions and vibration. The employee may occasionally be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risks of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is sometimes loud.
TRAVEL: Local travel to various work or jobsites is required.
