Job Summary
The primary responsibility of the DC Forklift Operator III is to operate an industrial lift, electrical pallet jack, and / or a seated industrial forklift to execute various material handling responsibilities, including the transportation of items between different locations to ensure proper operational and inventory flow. This role will identify and transport material to and from storage and staging areas, loading docks, rack locations, and trucks. Furthermore, it is imperative for the DC Forklift Operator III to be knowledgeable about the machinery and products they are using and transporting.
Essential Duties
- Conducts operational and safety checks on components such as the battery, brakes, lift controls, and fire extinguisher before shift / operation and ensures the daily / shift check list is complete.
- Signs out equipment daily and immediately reports all equipment malfunction, damage, or incidents to supervisor / manager.
- Safely proceeds to the designated area to extract, load, and transport merchandise, confirming labels and documentation for each pallet and movement.
- Ensures the utilization of suitable equipment for each specific type of movement (i.e. properly rated forklift / PIT for the product being moved).
- Returns equipment to appropriate charging station and prepares it for overnight charging at the end of the shift.
- Understands and complies with the productive capacity of equipment.
- Places and removes pallets of merchandise from racking, module, and / or staging area.
- Handles and dumps scrap or spoilage into dumpster, compactor, or baler and activates the compacting cycle.
- Performs cycle counts, audits, and product inspections at heights up to 35 feet, when necessary.
- Performs tasks and operates equipment same as the DC Forklift Operator I & II.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
