The Machining/Fabrication Quality Engineer ensures product quality and reliability by designing, implementing, and maintaining quality assurance processes. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive root cause analysis, continuous improvement, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The position focuses on machining and fabrication processes but may also involve electrical and mechanical systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee quality aspects of production projects from development to testing.
- Analyze data, resolve quality issues, and maintain accurate project records.
- Define and justify machine test requirements and acceptance limits.
- Manage Work In Progress (WIP) and Operation Acceptance Test (OAT) data, preparing performance reports as needed.
- Collaborate with the Continuous Improvement team to enhance processes and reduce quality costs.
- Ensure materials traceability and manage Pre-Check and Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) reporting.
- Coordinate with Engineering to capture and process 'redline' drawing changes.
- Update and maintain work instructions related to the ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
- Develop and monitor inspection plans (e.g., First Article, In-Process, and Final Product Inspections).
- Perform internal audits to assess compliance and report findings.
- Lead root cause analysis, corrective actions, and provide detailed reports (e.g., A3/8D methodology).
- Analyze supplier failures and drive quality improvements back to the source.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- An Associate degree with relevant experience may be considered.
Experience:
- 7-10 years in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
- 5-7 years in a Quality Engineering role preferred.
- ASQ CQE or ASQ SSGB certification preferred.
Skills:
- Proficient in quality assurance tools and methodologies.
- Strong understanding of GD&T, CMM measurement, and inspection techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret technical data and engineering documents.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving and project management capabilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
Salary : $66,700 - $86,200
