The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) ensures that suppliers meet the companys quality standards and requirements by working closely with the Global Supply Chain and Global Engineering Departments to assess and develop a strategic global supply chain . This role involves evaluating, monitoring, and improving supplier performance through audits, inspections, and collaboration while driving continuous improvement in global supplier performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaboration : Work closely with engineering, procurement, and manufacturing to align on quality expectations and serve as the liaison between product engineers, manufacturing, and vendors.
- Supplier Evaluation : Lead or participate in cross-functional supplier validation audits , quality assessments, and supplier manufacturing capability studies. Review supplier processes and drive process improvements .
- Quality Assurance : Develop and implement quality control processes for incoming materials, components, and assemblies.
- Problem Solving : Conduct onsite supplier visits for root cause analysis and verification of corrective action plans.
- Performance Monitoring : Track and report supplier performance metrics , including defect rates, delivery timelines, and compliance with required certifications .
- Documentation : Maintain comprehensive records of supplier quality assessments, audits, and performance reviews.
- Continuous Improvement : Lead and drive supplier quality improvement initiatives , focusing on defect reduction and process enhancement . Utilize quality tools such as DOE, RCCA, 8D, MSA, FAI, SPC , and process capability analysis to resolve supplier issues efficiently.
