The IDD Residential Manager is responsible for the overall management and operation of a residential group home for individuals with developmental disabilities. This role involves providing leadership to staff, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care, and fostering an environment that promotes the dignity, independence, and well-being of residents. The Residential Manager will work closely with families, healthcare providers, and community resources to ensure that residents receive comprehensive support in alignment with their individual needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Staff Management:
- Recruit, train, and supervise direct support staff.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide ongoing training and professional development. -
Create and maintain staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage at all times.
- Resident Care:
- Develop and implement individualized support plans in collaboration with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Monitor residents' health and well-being, ensuring that their physical, emotional, and social needs are met.
- Facilitate resident participation in community activities and programs to promote socialization and inclusion.- Compliance and Quality Assurance:
- Ensure that all operations comply with state and federal regulations, as well as organizational policies.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments of care practices and documentation.
- Implement quality improvement initiatives based on feedback and performance metrics.- Budget and Financial Management:
- Manage the residential budget, including monitoring expenses and ensuring cost-effective operations.
- Oversee the procurement of supplies and equipment necessary for the home’s operations.- Communication and Collaboration:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for families, advocates, and external service providers.
- Facilitate regular meetings with staff, residents, and families to discuss care plans, goals, and any concerns.
- Advocate for residents’ needs and rights within the community and the organization.- Crisis Management:
- Respond promptly to emergencies and behavioral issues, following established protocols.
- Develop and implement crisis intervention strategies as needed.
- Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of resident care, staff performance, and compliance activities.
- Ensure that all required documentation is completed in a timely manner
Experience/ Education
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, nursing, or a related field is preferred. - Relevant certifications in developmental disabilities or healthcare management are a plus.- Experience:
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a supervisory or management role within the IDD field.
- Experience working directly with individuals with developmental disabilities is essential.- Skills:
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication and conflict-resolution abilities.
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations governing IDD services.
- Ability to develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices in a residential setting.
- Proficient in using electronic health records (EHR) and other documentation systems.
