Job Summary
This individual is responsible for implementing health and safety policies, training employees on safety standards, and conducting safety inspections.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist with all daily health and safety activities
- Ensure that Diversity-Vuteq meets all agreed health and safety legislation and objectives and that appropriate risk mitigation/control measures are in place
- Assist with risk assessment, audit review, monitoring & managing health, and safety within the organization
- Assist with investigating incidents and accidents to ensure the timely production of corrective and preventative action plans
- Assist with identifying the lack of and/or improvements to policy and process, assess effectiveness of current policies and processes and recommend and implement required changes
- Maintain and improve mechanisms for risk assessment and disseminate feedback as appropriate
- Train and appraise individual team members to ensure targets are met
- Assist in developing plans for team activities to include health and safety strategy to achieve agreed targets and effective planning
- Set an example for team members of commitment, health and safety activities, work ethics and habits and personal character
- Maintain accurate records
- Adhere to all organization policies and procedures
- Interact and co-operate with all members of the organization, its suppliers, and clients/customers
- Train employees to follow environmental policies, practices, and standards
- Lead in Fire and Take Shelter Drills
- Hazardous & Non-Hazardous daily drum check
- Environmental Audits of the facility to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Internal ISO audits and participate as necessary in external audits (ISO)
Job Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum 1 year experience practicing DV’s Environmental & Safety policies
- Incident Reporting
- Knowledge of JSA’s (Job safety analysis)
- Knowledge of health and safety governance
- Knowledge of the ISO management system standards
- Understanding of health and safety management obligations (including statutory obligations), requirements and dynamics
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to prioritize and ensure successful completion of projects
- Ability to plan, organize, communicate, and motivate employees
- Possess strong analytical skills and effective interpersonal and communication skills
- High level of focus and professionalism
- Conflict resolution and problem solving skills
- Computer skills including Microsoft Office
- Ability to lift and carry 30lbs frequently and up to 50lbs occasionally
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and stoop frequently
- May be required to do overhead work frequently
Other
- High School Diploma or GED required
