Job Summary
We seek an enthusiastic and organized Volunteer Manager/Mentoring Coordinator to lead our volunteer recruitment, training, and mentoring programs. This role will be pivotal in building and maintaining a strong network of volunteers and mentors committed to supporting our youth participants' development. The ideal candidate will have a passion for youth development, excellent communication skills, and experience in volunteer management and program coordination.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Volunteer Recruitment and Management:
- Develop and implement strategies for recruiting and retaining volunteers.
- Create and maintain a database of volunteers, including their skills, interests, and availability.
- Conduct interviews, background checks, and onboarding processes for new volunteers.
- Provide ongoing support and recognition to volunteers to ensure their engagement and satisfaction.
2. Mentoring Program Coordination:
- Design, implement, and evaluate mentoring programs that match youth with suitable mentors.
- Develop training materials and conduct orientation sessions for mentors and mentees.
- Monitor mentor-mentee relationships and provide guidance and support as needed.
- Facilitate regular check-ins and feedback sessions to assess program effectiveness.
3. Training and Development:
- Organize and facilitate training workshops for volunteers and mentors focused on youth development, effective communication, and mentoring best practices.
- Stay updated on trends and best practices in volunteer management and youth mentoring.
4. Community Engagement:
- Collaborate with local schools, community organizations, and businesses to promote volunteer opportunities and mentoring programs.
- Represent the organization at community events and outreach initiatives to raise awareness about our mission and programs.
5. Program Evaluation and Reporting:
- Collect and analyze data on volunteer participation, mentoring outcomes, and program impact.
- Prepare reports for stakeholders and funders highlighting program successes and areas for improvement.
Requirements
- Proven experience in volunteer management or a related field.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse group of individuals.
- Familiarity with Raiser Edge or similar database systems is preferred.
- Excellent social media management skills to effectively communicate with potential volunteers.
- Experience in campus recruitment or community outreach initiatives is a plus.
- Background in social work or related fields is desirable.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
