What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute Nurse position at Division-wide?
POSITION TITLE: Substitute School Nurse
FLSA: Exempt
REPORTS TO: Superviso
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Holds a current Registered/Practical Professional Nurse License in the Commonwealth of Virginia
- Minimum of two years supervised nursing experience in Community Health
- Current Certification in CPR
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Dispense medication following guidelines
- Performs first aide; treat minor illness following guidelines
- Perform specialized medical procedures
- Document student immunization records
- Notify the parents by note or telephone call any time a child is seen in the clinic if the illness or injury warrants further observation
- Assess for communicable diseases
- Performs screenings (vision, blood pressure, height, weight)
- Screen new students who enter during the school year
- Ensure that Individualized Health Care Plans are completed as necessary
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Maintains confidentiality
- Participates in crisis intervention
- Maintains OSHA standards in the clinic
- Presents and communicates in a professional manner
- Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor
