This position investigates and reports claims, collaborates with external adjusters, and ensures proper handling of bodily injury, property damage, and other complex insurance issues. Job Summary:
The Claims Professional manages the day-to-day operations of insurance claims, ensuring the efficient resolution of claims in line with DMG’s established policies and procedures. This position investigates and reports claims, collaborates with external adjusters, and ensures proper handling of bodily injury, property damage, and other complex insurance issues. You will play a key role in managing the company’s self-insured retention program and fostering a proactive risk management culture.
What You'll Do:
- Oversee the handling of third-party claims by DMG staff and external adjusters, ensuring that all claims are being managed in accordance with DMG’s policies and procedures.
- Investigate and report claims to DMG’s third-party claims administrator.
- Provide direction to DMG’s external third-party adjusters and provide feedback, acting as a liaison between DMG and its adjusters.
- Maintain an active diary of high exposure property damage and bodily injury claims and advise on reserve changes or settlement offers.
- Investigate, manage, and adjust low exposure claims in-house with minimal oversight.
- Review and advise on all tender issues and claim denials.
- Audit and improve loss run data provided by DMG’s third-party claims administrator on a weekly basis.
- Communicate professionally with claimants, customer representatives, and other DMG departments.
- Educate and support other DMG departments that interact with and have a stake in third-party claims.
- Assist and support DMG’s paralegal with discovery requests, depositions, and subpoenas as requested.
- Attend claim reviews and other meetings to provide context for claims and to inform strategic decisions.
- Prepare and provide timely and detailed claims reporting to the Senior Corporate Counsel.
- Handle special projects as needed, including budget reviews and forecasts.
- Analyze and continuously improve upon current claims handling procedures.
- Maintain and organize internal claim files and shared Outlook folder.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
- 1 year of claims handling experience.
- Experience handling commercial claims and a comprehensive understanding of coverage and insurance issues (experience in corporate risk or claims department preferred).
- Ability to handle large volume of files.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with Jira, ZenDesk or similar work management tools.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to manage privileged and confidential information with discretion.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Capacity to manage numerous claims concurrently and with minimal oversight.
- Ability to manage the stress of a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to meet the in-person requirements of the team and/or business needs.
