Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Paralegal to provide direct support to the attorney in all aspects of divorce and family law cases. This role requires a proactive individual capable of managing a busy calendar, conducting legal research, preparing legal memoranda, and ensuring smooth case management. The ideal candidate will possess strong research and writing skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to providing exceptional client service. Key Responsibilities:
- Case Management & Calendar Management: Maintain and manage the attorney's calendar, including scheduling appointments, court dates, deadlines, and client meetings. Proactively track case progress and ensure timely completion of all necessary filings and actions.
- Legal Research & Memorandum Preparation: Conduct thorough legal research using online resources and legal databases. Analyze relevant statutes, case law, and regulations. Prepare clear and concise legal memoranda outlining research findings and providing guidance to the attorney.
- Client Communication & Support: Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, answering inquiries, providing updates, and gathering necessary information. Maintain a professional and empathetic demeanor when communicating with clients during often stressful situations.
- Document Management: Organize and maintain client files, ensuring all documents are properly filed, indexed, and readily accessible. Prepare and process legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and correspondence.
- Administrative Support: Provide general administrative support to the attorney, including managing correspondence, answering phones, and preparing for meetings.
- Other Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned by the attorney.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree; Paralegal Certificate preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience working as a paralegal in family law.
- Skills:
- Demonstrated proficiency in legal research and writing, including the preparation of legal memoranda.
- Excellent calendar management and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with legal research databases (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis) and Google Workspace.
- Experience with case management software (e.g., PracticePanther) is a plus.
- Personal Qualities: Detail-oriented, highly organized, proactive, able to work independently and as part of a team, and committed to maintaining confidentiality.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary: Starting at $45,000, commensurate with experience, with opportunities for growth and increased compensation based on performance and contributions.
