Summary:
The Financial Aid Coordinator helps students pursue their education at Dixie Technical College. The Coordinator performs duties regarding financial aid including meeting with students and assisting them with financial aid, scholarship, and payment plan applications. The Advisor communicates with students regarding their financial aid status and collects the necessary documentation to process student verification.
Dixie Tech is a public technical college located on a new state-of-the-art campus in St. George, Utah. The College has 29 Council on Occupational Education accredited programs that offer certifications in high-demand, high-pay professions.
The position pays between $24 and $30 per hour, depending upon qualifications and experience. This hourly position includes an employee health insurance benefit.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Contacts new students to provide financial aid opportunities
- Assists the Financial Aid Manager with the administration of student financial aid programs
- Directs students to CampusLogic financial aid software, and assists them when problems arise
- Assists students and parents in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), scholarships and other financial aid opportunities
- Assist students with the FAFSA verification process as needed
- Collects scholarship applications, compiles the necessary information, and determines eligibility in coordination with the Financial Aid team
- Processes the scholarship award letters
- Notifies the Finance Department and Financial Aid Manager of award decisions
- Contacts students if they have received a FAFSA award letter and assists with next steps
- Works with the Campus Store to ensure that students get their necessary textbooks and post the charges in Northstar SIS
- Assist the Financial Aid Manager to monitor students during payment periods to ensure they are maintaining the minimum requirements
- Attends financial aid training
- Compliance with Dixie Tech Policies and Procedures
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements and Qualifications:
- 3 years' experience working in education administration and/or financial aid preferred
- 1 year of experience with fiscal accounting systems preferred
- Bachelor's degree required
- Outstanding, demonstrated interpersonal communication skills
- Positive disposition
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications
- Ability to communicate with students, staff and colleagues; read academic texts and materials, student papers, etc.; operate personal computer and audio-visual equipment; stand or sit for up to one to three hours at a time; drive to off-site meetings or conferences; move around campus for classes and meetings.
- The employee is occasionally required to sit, stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push, and pull items weighing 25 pounds or less. The position requires manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
