The Dixon Family YMCA is adding a new childcare center, and expanding program operations.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Provides direct supervision of a group of children in a year-round child-care program. Provide a quality experience to children and parents focused on YMCA core values: honesty, caring, respect and responsibility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Supervises a group of children in accordance with ratios developed by the Illinois DCFS licensed child care standards.
  2. Develops and implements lesson plans that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate, theme related and consistent with YMCA values. Plans should be completed for full day, in specified class room. Lesson plans will be followed regardless of classroom attendance.
  3. Records daily attendance and is aware of how many children are present. Continually checks to ensure presence of all children. Establish appropriate boundaries children are aware of.
  4. Establishes and follows schedule, in conjunction with building staff and other schedules.
  5. Communicates material requests to supervisor in ample time.
  6. Completes daily CACFP paperwork in a timely manner and returns final monthly counts by the second business day of the following month.
  7. Provides TA with appropriate and classroom related roles
  8. Be knowledgeable of and adhere to Illinois DCFS standards.
  9. Attends staff meetings and trainings as scheduled by supervisor.
  10. Maintain continuing education credits as required by DCFS.
  11. Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
  12. Maintains positive relations with parents and other staff. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
  13. Remains in constant communication with parents and updates them on the progress of their children.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High School degree or equivalent, plus required college course work hours required by the State of IL to be deemed teacher or director qualified.
  2. Previous experience working with children preferably in a child care or school setting
  3. Experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: art, dance, music, dramatic play
  4. At least 19 years of age
  5. CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse Prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
  6. Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.
  7. DCFS requirements, as explained in staffing structure standards.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings.
