Dixon Montessori Charter School is a WASC accredited public school enrolling students in grades TK-8th grade. We are a site based school program serving over 480 students under the authorization of Dixon Unified School District. 

At DMCS, we blend core components of the Montessori philosophy (Kindergarten thru 3rd) with a Project-Based Learning Style (4th thru 8th grades) to create a dynamic, “hands-on” learning approach. All Montessori and Project-Based curriculum is aligned to the Common Core State Standards, and gives the students a well-rounded

 exposure to the many ways of learning.

Title: Speech Language Pathologist

Reports to: Executive Director, Student Services Administrator

Primary Function:  Under the general supervision of the Executive Director and the Special Education Supervisor, the SLP will work collaboratively with the special education department team, teachers, and other staff members.

Relationship to Student Achievement:  The role of the DMCS speech-language pathologist (SLP) is to work to prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in children.

Duties and Responsibilities: (This position description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, knowledge, or abilities associated with this position, but is intended to accurately reflect the primary job elements.) 

  • Screening: 

  • The SLP will conduct speech-language screenings for the incoming TK/KN students, as well as, conduct screenings based on student referrals throughout the school year to determine if full speech and language evaluations are warranted.

  • Assessment: 

    • The SLP conducts assessments in collaboration with others to help identify students with communication disorders as well as to inform instruction and intervention.

  • Intervention: 

    • The SLP will provide intervention that is appropriate to the age and learning needs of individual students and is selected through an evidence-based decision making process. 

  • Program Designing: 

    • The SLP will design school-wide speech language services that employ a continuum of service delivery models in the least restrictive environment for students with disabilities and that they integrate services to other students as appropriate. 

  • Data Collection/Analysis:  

    • The SLP’s responsibilities include supporting data-based decision making by gathering and interpreting data related to individual student performance as well as overall program success. 

  • Compliance: 

    • In performing their duties, the SLP is responsible for abiding by students’ Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), meeting federal and state mandates, and adhering to local policies. Activities may include IEP development, report writing, and treatment plan/therapy log development.

    • Complete other reasonable duties as assigned for the well-being of the school community.


Required Experience and Education:

Master’s degree in speech-language pathology from an educational institution approved.

  1. Current licensure in California as a speech language pathologist.

Physical Demands:

Work is performed while in a stationary position for extended periods of time. 

Work is performed while moving about the office to utilize equipment, technology, etc.

May require traveling in a vehicle to job assignments. 

Work is performed while moving supplies weighing up to 20 pounds across the classroom. 

Requires the ability to communicate effectively with staff, students, parents, and community members. 

Requires the ability to detect information displayed on a computer screen and read documents. 

Requires the ability to operate a computer keyboard or standard office equipment. 

 

Salary : $52,205 - $103,274
